Data credits
Navigator Data is produced by Navigator's proprietary data collection algorithm, which aggregates licensed commercial datasets, public government data, and openly licensed datasets into a single normalized database.
Some of the open datasets we incorporate are published under licenses that require public attribution. This page carries those credits. Other providers are integrated under agreements that do not call for public attribution; everywhere else in the product, our aggregated dataset is referred to simply as Navigator Data.
License-required attributions
Country-level CO₂ and greenhouse-gas emissions figures are derived from the Our World in Data CO₂ and Greenhouse Gas Emissions dataset, which in turn builds on the Global Carbon Budget published by the Global Carbon Project. Used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
City-level emissions figures are derived from CDP's city-wide emissions dataset. Required citation: “This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.”
Air-quality readings are derived from measurements aggregated by OpenAQ and, where current station coverage is unavailable, modelled air-quality data served by Open-Meteo from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service. Used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Air Quality Index values shown in Navigator use the U.S. EPA AQI scale.
City photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licenses (CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0, or public domain). The author, license, and source link for each photograph are displayed alongside the image wherever it appears.
